A twelve-year-old boy suffocated in a bathhouse, which, according to media reports, was heated for him by his grandmother in Polevskoye in the Sverdlovsk region; a criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence, senior assistant to the head of the regional department of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Shulga told reporters on Saturday.

“Late in the evening of September 5, the body of a 12-year-old boy was found in the dressing room on the territory of a private residential building in the village of Kosoy Brod in the city of Polevsky. Previously, the child died from carbon monoxide poisoning,” Shulga said.

He noted that a criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence, and an examination has been ordered to establish the exact cause of the child’s death.

As the head of the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valery Gorelykh, clarified to journalists, the family in which the child died was complete, was not registered on preventive measures, and the legal representatives had not previously been brought to administrative responsibility for failure to fulfill parental responsibilities.
