A resident of Tver sued her neighbors for 125 thousand rubles for humiliation in a house chat

A resident of Tver sued her neighbors for 125 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage due to humiliating expressions and hints about her mental disorder in a house chat, it follows from court materials available to RIA Novosti.

According to them, the woman went to court to protect her honor, dignity and business reputation and demanded to recover one million rubles in compensation for moral damage from two neighbors on a joint and several basis. The plaintiff believed that from March to August 2025, the defendants committed insults about 50 times, of which more than 20 in general chats and 26 in personal correspondence and calls.

The defendants did not admit the claim, pointing out in their objections that the conflict flared up after they complained to the plaintiff, who is the mother of the owner of the apartment, about a noisy tenant who was disturbing her sleep.

A linguistic examination established that the defendants’ messages in the house chat contained threats to the plaintiff and her daughter (“it’s time to start a dark day”), as well as derogatory characterizations of personality and behavior and hints of mental disorder. The expert pointed out that publicly characterizing the plaintiff-realtor as an “inadequate woman” and accusing her of slander could damage her business reputation. In addition, as the court found out, in a telephone conversation the defendant swore at the plaintiff and threatened to beat her.

The court emphasized that the defendants’ statements in the house chat cannot be classified as acceptable value judgments, and partially upheld the claim, collecting 100 thousand rubles from one neighbor, and 25 thousand rubles from the other as compensation for moral damage. One of the defendants appealed the court's decision.
