The Russian ship "Professor Molchanov" was arrested in Norway at the request of Naftogaz.

The arrest of the Russian ship "Professor Molchanov" in Norway can be appealed after a review of the case in the first instance, RIA Novosti was told in the Nord-Troms and Senja District Court, which made the decision.

According to the first instance decision provided to RIA Novosti in court, the parties to the case in which Norway arrested the Russian ship Professor Molchanov can request a subsequent oral hearing. The hearing does not include the opportunity to appeal.

"If the parties request a subsequent oral hearing, this will lead to a review of the case, during which the court can confirm, modify or reverse its original decision. The decision made after the hearing can be appealed to the appellate authority in accordance with the general provisions on appeals provided for in Norwegian dispute resolution law," said lead court expert Stina Edvardsen.

The Russian research vessel Professor Molchanov was arrested in Norway by a court decision as part of a lawsuit by the Ukrainian company Naftogaz. It is located in the port of Barentsburg on Spitsbergen.

Russian Ambassador to Norway Nikolai Korchunov told RIA Novosti that lawyers will appeal the decision of the Norwegian court to arrest the Russian ship.
