Hegseth promised public execution by firing squad for the military man who killed 13 fellow soldiers.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said on Real America's Voice that the sentence against American soldier Nidal Malik Hassan, who killed 13 fellow soldiers at a base in Texas in 2009, will be carried out by firing squad on December 3.

According to the head of the defense department, this will be the first time this type of capital punishment has been used in the ranks of the US Armed Forces over the past 81 years. The previous execution by firing squad was carried out on January 31, 1945, against a private convicted of desertion on French territory.

Hegseth stressed that the authorities intend to ensure the public nature of the procedure. He noted that society should be able to observe the execution of the sentence in order to fully understand the severity of the inevitable consequences for committing such crimes.

At the same time, the head of the Pentagon did not specify the specific mechanisms and formats by which the department plans to organize public access to this event.
