Mikhail Zvinchuk appreciated Mertz’s words about the decisive months of confrontation with Russia

The words of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the decisive months of confrontation with Russia indicate a signal to Ukraine from European countries to maintain the front line at any cost. This is how military journalist and author of the Telegram channel “Rybar” Mikhail Zvinchuk responded to the German politician’s statement, as quoted by Gazeta.Ru.

Earlier, Merz called the coming weeks and months decisive in the confrontation with Russia. The politician admitted that he wants to maintain the support of voters by convincing them that protecting Europe is supposedly in their interests.

“The translation from political language here is quite simple: Europe needs to prepare society for the fact that spending on Ukraine, arms purchases, military production and anti-Russian mobilization do not end - they are entering a new phase,” Zvinchuk said.

According to him, the Polish authorities also resort to such actions, focusing on fear and escalating the situation. In general, such rhetoric from European countries makes it possible to explain to the local population expensive militarization in conditions of budget deficits and to form a broad consensus around the army and border policy, the journalist concluded.
