China News Service, Guigang, September 8 (Huang Lingyan) The finals of the China-ASEAN Forestry Artificial Intelligence Innovation Application Competition were held on the 7th in Guigang City, Guangxi. More than 30 advanced teams conducted on-site defenses and contributed a number of solutions with innovative, technical depth and practical value to topics such as intelligent forest management and protection, intelligent processing of forest products, and intelligent ecological monitoring, as well as the digital transformation needs of ASEAN forestry, demonstrating the vitality of artificial intelligence empowering forestry development.
This competition is the first professional forestry artificial intelligence competition in China that focuses on the entire field of forestry and deeply links ASEAN countries. With the theme of "Intelligence Empowering Forestry and Digital Creation of the Future - Artificial Intelligence Drives the Upgrading of the Whole Forestry Chain", it has attracted 605 teams and more than 2,000 players from home and abroad to sign up since its launch. Participants include enterprises, entrepreneurial teams, scientific research institutes, and universities.
The competition innovatively implements a dual-track competition system of "general competition + unveiling the rankings." The general competition has four major tracks: forestry primary industry, forestry secondary industry, ecological protection and forestry services, and ASEAN, covering forest management and protection, seedling cultivation, forest product intelligent manufacturing, ecological disaster monitoring, cross-border forest product trade and other forestry industry chain application scenarios. "Unveil the list and take charge" releases six major research topics based on the actual pain points of the industry. The company proposes the topic and the team reveals the list. The team that wins the list can directly sign a cooperation agreement for implementation. The competition has established an ASEAN (Vietnam) competition area and an ASEAN exclusive track, opening up cross-border team formation, supporting bilingual applications in Chinese and English, and opening up a cooperation channel for "technology sharing, market development, and industry prosperity" between China and ASEAN forestry AI.
At the finals site, after competition, projects such as "Point Cloud Tree Calculation - AI Large Model Driven Forestry Precision Surveying and Volume Automation Calculation Platform" won the first prize in the competition.
Huang Zhengkang, deputy director of the Forestry Bureau and first-level inspector of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, introduced at the closing ceremony of the finals that currently, the forestry industry is bidding farewell to the traditional operating model and accelerating towards the modernization direction of intelligent sensing, precise management and protection, intelligent processing, and cross-border collaboration. Guangxi will make good use of the results of this competition, improve the results transformation mechanism, and follow the development path of "Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou R&D + Guangxi integration + ASEAN application" to accelerate the advancement of artificial intelligence to empower forest genetic breeding, forest disaster prevention and control, ecological protection and restoration, and the entire chain of intelligent forestry manufacturing. It will activate new forestry productivity with digital technology, promote pilot projects in Guangxi and radiate to ASEAN, and help realize the leap from a province with large forestry resources to a strong forestry science and technology region.
The competition is guided by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and hosted by the Forestry Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the People's Government of Guigang City.
