The conflict between Lebanon and Israel resumes, and the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and Iran is full of doubts

Fierce conflict broke out again in Lebanon today. The authorities said that Israeli air strikes killed 47 people, and Israel announced that four soldiers were killed. Although U.S. officials revealed that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a ceasefire, the fighting between the two sides has not eased, becoming the most serious conflict since the U.S. and Iran brokered the Middle East armistice agreement.

Agence France-Presse reported that this wave of conflict is the most serious since the United States and Iran reached an agreement to try to end the broader Middle East war. The deal was expected to halt fighting between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah.

Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israel launched another air strike in the Jezzine area in southern Lebanon today. This comes after a U.S. official said Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a ceasefire.

NNA reporters pointed out that drone activity was detected over the Tire area, while AFP reporters heard continuous shelling from Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.

The U.S. official, who requested anonymity, said the ceasefire agreement was brokered by the United States and Qatar and that relevant negotiations involved Israel and Iran. Later, a Persian Gulf diplomat confirmed that the ceasefire agreement was jointly brokered by Qatar, the United States and Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not respond to AFP's request for verification of news about the ceasefire.

Israeli military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said: "All matters regarding the agreement are decisions at the political level... We will continue to act in accordance with instructions."

The Israeli military noted that it had launched "more than 150 strikes" in Lebanon since midnight.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that Israeli air strikes and shelling killed at least 47 people, including 7 women and 2 children, and injured 97 others.

On the other hand, Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, said it was attacking Israeli forces near Nabatiyeh.

AFP TV footage showed hundreds of cars crowding the roads in urban Sidon, Lebanon, as people tried to flee southern Lebanon.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun pointed out that Israel's latest round of attacks "constitutes a dangerous escalation." U.S. officials, including President Trump, have also recently expressed dissatisfaction with Israel's military operations in Lebanon.
