18 year old under arrest for escape: caught in a restaurant while having dinner with his girlfriend

He should have remained under house arrest, but instead he went out to have dinner at a restaurant with his girlfriend. And he was recognized by a policeman off duty, sitting nearby. Thus ended the evening of an 18-year-old from Castel San Pietro Terme, in the Bologna area, arrested for escaping from home detention, an alternative measure to the prison to which he was subjected after a final conviction for a robbery committed as a minor.

The young man, after a check by a patrol from the local station, was convinced that he was no longer subject to checks. He then called 112 to build an alibi, claiming that he had to leave the house because his girlfriend was accompanying him to the hospital due to a sudden illness. In reality, the two reached a restaurant in the area, where the 18-year-old sat at the table and ordered food, ignoring the orders of the judicial authorities. However, a few meters away from him there was a carabiniere from the Castel San Pietro Terme station, off duty, who recognized him and immediately alerted the patrol. The military reached the place within minutes and arrested him.

At the disposal of the public prosecutor on duty at the Bologna Prosecutor's Office, the young man was taken to court for a very direct trial: the arrest was validated and he was placed under house arrest.
