Li Sichuan proposed New Taipei City's new five-arrow social housing policy, hoping to solve the housing problem of the elderly, middle-aged and young people

On the 11th, KMT New Taipei mayor candidate Li Sichuan proposed a new five-arrow social housing policy including "Wherever the MRT goes, you can live in peace," "where there is development, there will be social housing," "promoting enterprises to build labor housing," "promoting more housing for marriages and children," and "promoting senior-friendly housing." The continuation of Mayor Hou Youyi's social housing policy, coupled with the target of 12,000 households, hopes that the housing problems of the old, middle, and young generations can be properly solved.

Li Sichuan pointed out that the first step is "Wherever the MRT goes, you can live there." New Taipei's future MRT construction and urban development must not only solve traffic problems, but also simultaneously promote housing, employment and life functions. Facing the gradual limitation of public land, the city government cannot just passively find land to build social housing, but must actively integrate urban development and plan MRT, housing, industry, public facilities and life services together to create a 15-minute city with rail as the core.

The second arrow is "where there is development, there will be social housing." New Taipei continues to develop. MRT lines, TOD areas, overall development zones, and urban renewal areas are all important engines of urban progress. However, the more the city develops, the higher the pressure on housing prices and rentals will be. Therefore, in the future, the development of New Taipei City must simultaneously increase the supply of social housing.

The third arrow is "promoting enterprises to build workers' housing." New Taipei City must strive for industry and provide workers with a safe place to live. Faced with the limited capacity of public land and government construction, housing supply cannot only rely on the government, but also requires the introduction of private land and funds, allowing enterprises to become a force for jointly improving workers' housing.

The fourth arrow is "Promote marriage and childcare and increase the number of homes." Many young people do not want to start a family, but they are stuck because housing prices are too high, renting is unstable, and childcare expenses are heavy. If housing policies cannot respond to these pressures, it will be difficult to truly improve the declining birthrate and the housing plight of young people.

The fifth arrow is "Promoting age-friendly social housing." New Taipei is about to enter a super-aged society, and the demand for senior housing will only grow. Housing needs not only to accommodate young people, but also to take care of the elders who have worked hard for their families and the city all their lives.
