Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and delivered a speech.
Wang Huning said that in April this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech when he met with Chairman Cheng Liwen of the Chinese Kuomintang, which pointed out the way forward for promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advancing the cause of reunification of the motherland, and injected strong impetus into promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation and deepening cross-Strait integrated development. We have always adhered to the common belief that the territory is inseparable, the country cannot be in chaos, the nation cannot be dispersed, and the civilization cannot be broken up. We have always grasped the overall interests and long-term development of the Chinese nation in cross-Strait relations. We have always complied with the common aspirations of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait for peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation. We have always adhered to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", resolutely followed the path of peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, resolutely promoted the great cause of reunification of the motherland, and resolutely created long-lasting well-being for the Chinese nation.
Wang Huning said that the mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China and are a community with a shared future that shares weal and woe. Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait must stand on the right side of history and the side of national justice, firmly forge a sense of community for the Chinese nation, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference, and protect, build and develop the common home of the Chinese nation. We uphold the concept of "one family on both sides of the Taiwan Strait", implement the policy of equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots, and are willing to share development opportunities and achievements with Taiwan compatriots. We welcome Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises to participate in the tide of cross-Strait exchanges, cooperation, integrated development, and to participate in the high-quality development and modernization of the mainland.
Wang Huning said that a strong and unified China is a blessing to the Chinese nation and a blessing to all Chinese people. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China drew up a grand blueprint for development during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, which will open up broad space for the development of cross-Strait relations. Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait must enhance their identification with the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, and great motherland, strengthen their ambition and integrity to be upright Chinese, work together to create a bright future for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and continue to write new glories in the history of the Chinese nation.
Zhang Ronggong, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, said in his speech that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to the Chinese nation and are a family with the same roots and blood. A true Taiwanese, and an upright Chinese. We look forward to further deepening cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, enhancing the well-being of people on both sides of the Strait, jointly safeguarding peace across the Taiwan Strait, and jointly pursuing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Representatives of other Taiwan compatriots also made speeches.
