Hualien Police Station Xuanyuan Police Station heard gunshots at around 8pm on the 10th. It turned out that a 36-year-old police officer named Chen committed suicide in the carport. He was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Colleagues in the police department said that a similar tragedy occurred on Police Day on June 15, 2022, and the police officer involved was only 25 years old.

Police officer surnamed Lin committed suicide on Police Day 4 years ago when he was only 25 years old. He passed the police special examination in 2020 and was transferred to the Xuanyuan Police Station after training in 2022. However, something happened within just 3 months of being a police officer. He has a quiet personality and seldom communicates with his colleagues. However, before the incident, he had a midnight snack with his colleagues, so there was nothing unusual about him.

Colleagues recalled that on Police Day four years ago, a forest officer finished his patrol duty from 2 to 4 in the afternoon and shot himself in the open space behind the police station at about 3:55 pm.

The police officer surnamed Chen who shot himself to death this time lived in Meilun, Hualien City. His family burst into tears when they learned of the situation. Hualien County Police Chief Fan Zhikun has arrived at the scene to understand the situation.
