Zhang Xinyi, a seventh-grade student at Kechuang Middle School in Huining County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province, said, "90 years ago, the Red Army met in Huining. 90 years later, we set off again from the meeting tower and walked the Long March of our new era."

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March, on the 22nd, the "Future Lecture Hall - Relay Long March Spirit and Light Up Future Dreams" event co-sponsored by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, China Children's Art Theater, Baiyin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, was held in Huining County, the holy place where the main force of the Red Army's Long March met, and brought an immersive youth class to more than 680 local teachers and students.
Shen Beili, Party Secretary and Vice Chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, said that the Long March is a revolutionary feat that shines in the annals of history, and the great Long March spirit is an inexhaustible spiritual source. After holding activities related to the "Future Lecture Hall" in Ruijin, Jiangxi, where the Long March started, the foundation went to Huining, where the Long March successfully met, to guide students to learn the history of the Long March and follow the Long March in the new era.
As a key red education activity at the Long March victory meeting place, this event innovatively integrates expert lectures, red story telling, scenario drama performances, interactive experiences and other forms to break the traditional classroom barriers and create a vivid red "big ideological and political course" in an immersive and three-dimensional form, allowing the heavy Long March history to go out of textbooks and get closer to young people.

"On the Long March, many young Red Army soldiers guarded the hope of the nation with their youth. The baton of the new era has been handed over to the hands of contemporary teenagers." Ge Dali, director of the China Children's Art Theater, said that the theater will continue to send children's dramas to the red hot land and campus classrooms, and accompany the growth of children with warm literary and artistic works.
At the event, Liu Jintian, a researcher at the Central Institute of Party History and Documentation, closely followed the key historical nodes of the Long March, combined with precious historical materials and vivid revolutionary stories, carefully interpreted the arduousness of the Long March, and deeply explained the great historical significance of the Long March.
Du Yongsheng, the former director of the Red Army Long March Victory Memorial Hall in Huining County, told the teachers and students present about the past story of an unknown little Red Army soldier who sacrificed his life to save others. The 14-year-old Little Red Army rescued the young boy Wei Yu during an enemy bombing and unfortunately died. The Wei family was grateful for their kindness and buried the Little Red Army next to their ancestors' graves. They have paid tribute to them for generations and named their descendants "Continue the March, Continue the March, Long March" to remember the deep love between the military and the people that spanned ninety years.
On the stage, the situation drama arranged by the China Children's Art Theater vividly reproduced the touching moments of the Red Army braving the cold and helping each other during the Long March. The immersive performance allowed the students to look back on that turbulent time immersively. Gou Xiaolu, a grade 9 student at Kechuang Middle School in Huining County, said that through conversations with her peers during the Long March, she understood that today’s happy life is hard-won, and she is determined to remember the martyrs and inherit the spirit of the Long March.
Nowadays, under the influence of Reunion Avenue, Red Army Street, and Long March Road, and under the influence of real-life ideological and political courses, the Long March spirit has become the belief and strength rooted in the hearts of young people in Huining. (over)
