On the same day, train G3946 carrying 177 passengers slowly drove out of Shangqiu Station in Henan Province, marking the official launch of the first high-speed train from Shangqiu to Xiongan.

The Xiongshang section of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway runs through the three provinces of Hebei, Shandong and Henan, starting from Xiongan Station in the north and ending at Shangqiu Station in the south. The main line is 552 kilometers long and has a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Wu Xinguang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shangqiu Station of China Railway Zhengzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd., said that the line connects the Shangqiu-Hefei section of the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway in the south of Shangqiu Station, and forms a high-speed and general-speed "double cross" intersection with the east-west Xulan High-speed Railway, the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and the Longhai Railway.

After the opening of the new line, a total of 17 high-speed trains have been opened at Shangqiu Station. Passengers departing from Shangqiu can directly reach 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country by high-speed rail. Among them, 4 more trains have been opened between Beijing and Shangqiu. The journey from Shangqiu to Beijing is shortened by nearly 1 hour than before, and the fastest train from Xiongan to Shangqiu is 2 hours and 27 minutes.

In addition, two high-speed rail trains have been added between Yantai and Shangqiu in the north, and two high-speed rail trains have been opened between Qingdao and Shangqiu in the north. The connection between Shangqiu and the central and southern plains of Hebei and the hinterland of southwestern Shandong has become closer; six high-speed rail trains between Shangqiu and Hefei, west Hefei, and two high-speed rail trains between Shangqiu and Huangshan North have been added in the south. The connection between Shangqiu and the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has become more convenient, making it a reality to "visit the scenery of Huangshan Mountain in the morning and visit the source of the Yin Shang Dynasty in the evening".

Wu Xinguang said that after the opening of the Xiongshang section, Shangqiu will realize direct high-speed rail connection to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the time and space distance will be greatly reduced. This will not only effectively support the construction and development of Xiongan New Area, promote the coordinated development of cities such as Liaocheng and Heze along the line, but also provide a new channel for passengers from Hefei and surrounding areas to go north to Beijing.
