Police apply for arrest warrants for two suspects in 'Guro residential area body abandonment incident'

Seoul Guro Police Station announced on the 28th that it had applied for arrest warrants for Mr. A, a man in his 60s, and Mr. B, a man in his 80s, who are suspected of abandoning a corpse and instigating corpse abandonment, respectively.

Mr. A is accused of abandoning the body at a waste disposal site in a residential area in Guro-dong, Guro-gu on the afternoon of the 22nd, and Mr. B is accused of ordering this.

Mr. B is the landlord of a multi-family house in Guro-gu, and Mr. A has lived in this house as a tenant and has always followed Mr. B like a father.

During the police investigation, they admitted to abandoning the body.

Mr. B told the police that he did not know that what he was asked to throw away was a body, and that he ordered Mr. A to throw it away because there was an object that looked like a doll.

Mr. A stated that he suspected that what he was discarding could be a body, but that he did so following Mr. B's instructions.

After confirming the identity of the person who died by accident, the police are investigating his whereabouts, circumstances of death, and relationship with the suspects.

The exact cause of death or date of death has not yet been confirmed.

The body, which had previously been wrapped in plastic and newspaper, was left unattended for five days. At around 11 a.m. the previous day, a sanitation worker from Guro-gu Office found it and reported it to the police.

It was reported that some decay and drying had occurred and it was in a 'mummified' state.
