Fu Minxiong, the former mayor of Zhutian Township in Pingtung, a member of the Kuomintang, was sentenced to 20 years in the first instance for corruption during his tenure. Fu Minxiong appealed to defend his innocence. The verdict was recently released. His appeal was partially rejected and the original sentence was upheld. He was also told by the Kaohsiung High Branch that 1 million yuan in criminal proceeds must be recovered. The entire case can still be appealed. Fu Minxiong's camp responded that it has not yet received a verdict.
During his tenure, Fu Minxiong, the former head of Zhutian Township in Pingtung County, was suspected of colluding with manufacturers by taking advantage of multiple project opportunities to assist in accepting bribes after winning the bid. The Pingtung District Court ruled in the first instance last year that Fu Minxiong was jointly guilty of two counts of receiving kickbacks for handling projects according to the Corruption Crimes Regulations; and jointly guilty of accepting bribes without violating his duties according to the Corruption Crimes Regulations. The inspection and investigation found that Fu Minxiong used the Zhutian Township Office to promote the "commissioned design, construction and engineering for the improvement of the Zhutian Elementary School Tongxue Trail" and the "commissioned design for the surrounding environment improvement of Yuantong Temple Park" from 2015 to 2017. Public projects such as "Construction Supervision and Engineering" and "Zhutian Township Li Na Gutang Turnkey Project" were discussed with Zeng Wenxing, a member of the Zhutian Villagers' Representative Association at the time. After the verdict of the first trial was announced, Fu Minxiong said that "there was no evidence from beginning to end, but the trial lasted for 6 years."
