"2026 Joint Academic Conference" was held at Wonkwang University in South Korea to explore new directions for South Korea-China cooperation

China News Service, Seoul, June 19 (Reporter Jin Xu) On June 18, local time, the "2026 Joint Academic Conference" with the theme of "Korea-China Cooperation in the Context of Great Transformation in the New Era" was held at Wonkwang University in South Korea. Experts and scholars from all walks of life in South Korea gathered together to conduct in-depth discussions on cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

This conference was jointly organized by the Korea-China Relations Institute at Wonkwang University, the Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju, the Korean Modern China Society, and the Confucius Institute at Wonkwang University. It aimed to explore the new direction and future vision for the development of relations between the two countries.

Gu Jingqi, Consul General of China in Guangzhou, delivered a keynote speech at the meeting. He emphasized that in the context of profound changes in the international situation, China and South Korea should further enhance mutual trust, expand areas of cooperation, and jointly promote the sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations.

This meeting will set up four thematic sub-forums on politics and diplomacy, youth, economy, trade and science and technology, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges to conduct in-depth discussions on many important issues facing the relations between the two countries.

Ryu Ji-won, dean of the Korea-China Relations Institute at Wonkwang University in South Korea, said that this academic conference examines the future development of Korea-China relations from multiple dimensions and is an important academic event to explore pragmatic cooperation paths.
