Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds 2026 Korea-Libya Economic Cooperation Forum in Tripoli, Libya

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Ji-heon Kim = The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Embassy in Libya announced on the 29th that they held the '2026 Korea-Libya Economic Cooperation Forum' in Tripoli, Libya, from the 27th to the 28th in collaboration with the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

This forum is the first economic forum held by the Korean government in Libya since the Libyan civil war in 2014, and was held to support companies' advancement into the Middle East and construction order acquisition activities.

Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, and Hyundai Heavy Industries, as well as the Libyan Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Electric Power Authority, the Housing and Infrastructure Agency, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry attended.

In a special presentation, Husni Bey, Chairman of HB, Libya's largest private group, evaluated Korea's experience of growing into an innovative country leading the industry globally in 70 years, and emphasized that the two countries should strengthen cooperation to strengthen capabilities in the health and education fields.

Participants discussed ways to link Korea's development experience and industrial and technological capabilities, energy and infrastructure cooperation, digital technology, and health care with Libya's development needs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We plan to support follow-up communication so that the discussions between the institutions and companies of the two countries formed at this forum can lead to concrete cooperation.”
