The 5th Digital Trade Fair held the 2026 BRICS Special Economic Zone Hangzhou Dialogue

China News Service, Hangzhou, September 26 (Xi Jinyan, Chen Qiaoyan) From September 23 to 27, the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo was held in Hangzhou. During this period, the 2026 BRICS Special Economic Zone Hangzhou Dialogue was held, and the "Research Results on Promoting Mutual Trust and Mutual Recognition of Electronic Signatures among BRICS Countries" was released on-site.

It is reported that this dialogue, with the theme of "Discussing Innovation, Cooperation and Development of BRICS Special Economic Zones", strives to create an international and professional BRICS Special Economic Zone cooperation and exchange platform, focusing on the development exchange, cooperation exchange and rules exchange of BRICS Special Economic Zones. The dialogue event was hosted by the Global Digital Trade Expo Organizing Committee and the BRICS Special Economic Zone China Cooperation Center, and hosted by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce.

Liu Fei, member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Ali Murtopo Simbolon, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Economic Coordination and Secretary-General of the National Economic Zone Committee, and Chen Zhiyang, Deputy Director of the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations of the Ministry of Commerce, delivered speeches respectively. Zhou Xiangjun, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, presided over the event.

Liu Fei said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation between BRICS countries. BRICS Special Economic Zones are mature mechanisms for promoting trade, investment, industrial cooperation, innovation and integration into resilient and sustainable global value chains. Since the China Cooperation Center for BRICS Special Economic Zones was established in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, it has actively promoted practical cooperation among BRICS special economic zones and looks forward to the center achieving more results in promoting the partnership building of BRICS special economic zones.

Based on the development practices of Indonesia's 25 special economic zones, Ali Murtopo Simbolon proposed four initiatives to promote BRICS special economic zones cooperation: building a green and digital investment corridor for BRICS special economic zones, establishing an annual system and knowledge exchange project for BRICS special economic zones, building a BRICS special economic zone investment promotion platform, and establishing a BRICS special economic zone talent capacity building network.

The "Research Results on Promoting Mutual Trust and Mutual Recognition of Electronic Signatures in BRICS Countries" was released on site. Five units including the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Justice, the China Association for Private International Law, the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, and Zhejiang Gongshang University signed the "Memorandum on Jointly Promoting Mutual Trust and Mutual Recognition of Electronic Signatures in BRICS Countries"; the BRICS Special Economic Zone "AI+" talent training and recruitment plan, the "Brain-Computer Integration" young scientist cooperation plan for the BRICS Countries, and the BRICS Special Economic Zone Cooperation Signing were held.

Representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations Project Program (UNOPS), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Free Zone Organization (WFZO) combined the current new trends in the development of global artificial intelligence and special economic zones to share and explain the important practical role of special economic zones in the process of digital transformation, trade and investment facilitation, and industrial cooperation and development. Representatives of relevant special economic zones and industrial parks, based on their respective development realities, held dialogues and exchanges on park planning and construction, operation and management experience, and practical situations of transformation and development in response to trends.

The theme pavilion of this digital trade fair has simultaneously set up a special exhibition area for BRICS special economic zones. More than 10 special economic zones from BRICS countries have appeared together to comprehensively display the picture of BRICS pragmatic cooperation.
