(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Bae Jin-nam = Kukkiwon announced on the 4th that it has begun accepting applications for participation in the ‘2026 World Taekwondo Festival (hereinafter referred to as Hanmadang)’.

This year's festival will be held at Kukkiwon in Gangnam-gu, Seoul for five days from August 1st to 5th.

Hanmadang, which took its first steps in 1992, is a Taekwondo competition venue with a cumulative number of participants of over 70,000 and the largest festival for the global Taekwondo family, and is held every year (except 2020-2022) by Kukkiwon.

The application period for participation is until the 30th of this month.

You can apply on the Hanmadang website (hanmadang.kukkiwon.or.kr).

After applying, you must pay the participation fee by card between July 1st and 5th.

This year's Hanmadang will be held in a total of 15 events and 170 categories, including not only official events but also demonstration and demonstration events.

This year, in particular, in order to encourage participation among the elderly, a new poomsae demonstration event was established for those with advanced qualifications who can participate even without a Dan certificate, and the certified poomsae and power-breaking events were subdivided into master I (under 69 years of age) and II (over 70 years of age) categories.

In addition, a new demonstration event of breaking poomsae (group) was added.
