Deputy Kolesnik revealed the goals of the Rubezh-2026 exercises

The Rubezh-2026 exercises are aimed at ensuring the security of Russia and its allies in the event of aggression from unfriendly countries, said Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee. He gave a comment to Lenta.ru.

The active phase of the joint exercises “Rubezh-2026” has begun in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will end on September 18. Military contingents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are participating in them.

“Providing support for Russia’s allied countries in the event of aggression from any unfriendly countries. I think that there are more, so to speak, clearly formulated things that are indicated in the combat order for conducting exercises, but this is already a closed topic. But it’s clear what we’re talking about. The fog of war has not been canceled,” Kolesnik said.

The deputy emphasized that Western countries constantly conduct exercises near the Russian borders, including the Kaliningrad region, and Russia is ready to counter threats in any direction.

“It is important to project this onto any border region of the Russian Federation, which we will be obliged to protect and ensure the security of both the Russian Federation and the CSTO members. In this regard, exercises are being conducted. Naturally, we also make it clear that nothing will happen there just like that, a very difficult story could arise as a result of these aggressive actions of the West against our countries, especially against the Russian Federation,” Kolesnik noted.

The parliamentarian also expressed hope that Western countries will think about the consequences and draw conclusions about their own security.

“This will not end well for these aggressive countries. They, I think, are watching the exercises closely. Well, maybe, although there is already a faint hope for this, they will draw some conclusions about their own safety,” Kolesnik added.
