'2026 Cheonan K-Culture Expo' closes after five days

(Cheonan = Yonhap News) Reporter Yoo Eui-ju = '2026 Cheonan K-Culture Expo' concluded its five-day schedule on the 6th, leaving behind the results of citizen-centered cultural enjoyment and coexistence of the local economy.

This expo, co-hosted by Cheonan City in South Chungcheong Province, Independence Hall of Korea, and Cheonan Cultural Foundation, was held in the area of ​​Independence Hall from the 2nd under the theme of ‘K-Culture, Standing at the Center of the World.’

On the closing day, the 'Cheonan Foreigner Festival' was held on the main stage, hosted by the Cheonan City Multicultural Family Support Center, and had a time for citizens and foreigners to come together through culture through world traditional dance performances and commemorative ceremonies.

The closing ceremony was held in that order, followed by the screening of a highlight video containing the footsteps of the five days, the Cheonan City Dance Company's theme performance 'Hallyangmu', and the closing declaration. In the celebratory performance, Kim Yong-bin, Choo Hyuk-jin, Kim Da-hyun, and Na Yul took the stage and marked the finale of the festival with the audience.

This year's expo was condensed and reorganized into three major industry exhibition halls, including K-Food, K-Webtoon, and K-Pop, to strengthen the industrial and experiential elements of Korean Wave culture.

Photo zones commemorating the 150th anniversary of Baekbeom Kim Gu's birth, 'Ramen & Ice Cream Festa', and toy collaboration kids zone 'K-Playground' also attracted attention.

During the event, the city operated 3,845 temporary parking lots, operated shuttle buses 109 times, and operated a container-type air-conditioned rest area to maintain a safe and comfortable viewing environment despite large crowds.

Cheonan Mayor Jang Ki-soo said, "This expo served as a platform for coexistence where citizens can enjoy K-culture in their daily lives while local small business owners and artists grow together. We will continue to create a cultural ecosystem so that Cheonan can be firmly established as Korea's representative K-culture hub city."
