Seoul City holds ‘2026 Seoul Intangible Culture Festival’ at Namsangol Hanok Village

The city of Seoul announced on the 6th that it will hold the '2026 Seoul Intangible Culture Festival' showcasing 31 intangible heritage items at Namsangol Hanok Village from the 12th to the 13th.

The 'Seoul Intangible Culture Festival', which is in its 16th year this year, was planned as a participatory festival created by holders, transmitters, and citizens, rather than just viewing intangible cultural heritage.

14 performances will be held at Cheonwoo Gak and Seoul Namsan Traditional Theater. On the 12th, there is Hallyangmu, Gyeolryeon Taekkyeon, Madeul Children's Song, Isujajeon, and on the 13th there are traditional military martial arts and stepping on Supyogyo Bridge.

In the area around the traditional house, craftsmen in various fields such as embroidery craftsmen, needle craftsmen, lacquer craftsmen, and joiners show the process of creating their works.

At the Min clan house in Gwanhun-dong, traditional liquors such as Seoul Songjeolju, Hyangonju, and Samhaeju are introduced to adult visitors.

In addition, craft programs, folk games such as tuho and jegichagi, and stamp tours where souvenirs are given out for completing tasks will be held throughout the venue.

Min Soo-hong, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's cultural headquarters, said, "Intangible heritage is not something that stays in the past, but is passed down through generations and is the foundation that allows our culture to spread to the world today."
