The automatic assignment of pensions will be made on the basis of data already available in the information systems of the Social Fund.

The innovation will affect those who retire on general grounds, as well as mothers of many children and parents of a child with a disability who are entitled to early payments.

Old-age insurance pensions, including on early grounds, will be assigned automatically from January 1, 2027 in Russia without any requirements for data from the recipient, Ekaterina Medyakova, an expert at the Federal Methodological Center for Improving Financial Literacy of the Population of the Presidential Academy, told RIA Novosti.

Currently, Russians who have reached retirement age receive a notification on the State Services portal about the opportunity to assign an old-age insurance pension. The decision is made only after the citizen submits electronic consent. Those who are entitled to early retirement now need to independently contact the Social Fund office with an application.

“According to the draft federal law, from January 1, 2027, the Social Fund will assign pensions automatically without application, based only on the data that is already in its information systems,” Medyakova said.

She clarified that the innovation will affect those who retire on general grounds. In 2027, it will be women aged 60 and men aged 65. In addition, the measure will affect mothers of many children and parents of a child with a disability who are entitled to early payments.
