Norway proposes negotiations with Russia to prevent maritime incidents

The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) country plans to hold talks with Russia on the topic of preventing incidents at sea. Izvestia writes about this.

Norway wanted to meet with the Russian side to discuss this issue in November or December. As noted by the press secretary of the joint headquarters of the Armed Forces (AF) of the country, Rune Haarstad, the meeting will take place within the framework of the INCSEA protocol (Agreement on the Prevention of Incidents at Sea - note by Lenta.ru).

“Responsibility for organizing and holding the meeting rests with the headquarters of the Norwegian Armed Forces, and it will be headed by the deputy head of the operational command of the Norwegian Armed Forces,” Haarstad explained.

In addition, Norway aims to hold a meeting with the Russian border service and coast guard in the fall.
