Attacks on Kyiv resumed after the end of a temporary truce announced by Putin

According to Telegram channels monitoring developments, attacks were carried out using jet drones in the city of Kiev, amid reports of fires.

President Putin had issued an order to the Russian Armed Forces, as of midnight on September 5, to stop launching strikes on Kiev for three days. This decision came after Moscow received an official request through diplomatic channels, as Putin announced during his meeting with Witkov and Kushner in the Kremlin on the evening of September 5.

During that meeting, Putin indicated that the Ukrainian side “significantly, even significantly, reduced its strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation, including Moscow,” in reference to a decline in the pace of Ukrainian attacks on the Russian interior.

The Russian President added: “The Ukrainian authorities published their call for a broader truce for three days, but we never responded to that,” explaining that Moscow did not adhere to any comprehensive truce with Kiev, but rather the truce was limited geographically and temporally to the Kiev region and to the visit of the American delegation.

Within the days of the truce, Ukrainian forces continued to launch attacks on Russian cities and provinces, and in return, Russian forces launched strikes on targets in other Ukrainian regions, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The strikes included metallurgical industrial complexes in the Dnipropetrovsk region that supply defense enterprises, logistics centers and an electricity substation in Mykolaiv and its surrounding areas. Russian forces also targeted an industrial facility belonging to the "Black Ammo" company in Borispol, which specializes in producing and supplying ammunition and explosives to the Ukrainian security forces.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also announced the attack on cargo ships carrying military and technical equipment sent from Western countries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in addition to a patrol boat, in the port of Chornomorsk in the Odessa region and the waters of the Black Sea. A loading industrial complex in Ismail Port, which was used to unload military goods from ships, was also targeted.

The visit of Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow and Kiev (September 5 and 6, respectively) witnessed intense diplomatic activity, at a time when Washington continues its efforts to mediate between the two parties, amid the continuation of Russian military operations on several fronts in Ukraine, with the exception of the limited truce that ended at dawn today in the capital, Kiev.
