The US plans to begin construction of a lunar base in 2027

The United States wants to begin construction of a lunar base in 2027. NASA head Jared Isaacman said this on the CBS program Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.

“In 2028, when NASA astronauts reach the surface of the Moon, there will be a lunar rover, infrastructure construction will begin, and by 2029 the infrastructure will be expanded,” the administrator said.

According to him, by the early 2030s, the lunar base will resemble the International Space Station (ISS). “Crews will be there for quite long periods of time while we learn in this environment and prepare for missions to Mars,” Isaacman said.

In May, NASA announced a three-phase plan to establish a habitable base on the lunar surface by 2032.
