Barcelona renews the contract of Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim until 2030

Barcelona announced that it had reached an agreement to renew the contract of its young Egyptian striker, Hamza Abdel Karim, until 2030, according to a statement published by the club on Friday.

Barcelona's statement said: "FC Barcelona and player Hamza Abdel Karim have reached an agreement to renew the Egyptian footballer's contract until June 30, 2030."

The Catalan club added in its statement: “The contract is scheduled to be signed on September 15 at five o’clock in the evening, Central European Summer Time, in the office of FC Barcelona President, Joan Laporta.”

Barcelona confirmed that Hamza will speak to journalists afterward in the club’s commercial office.

The 18-year-old Egyptian striker joined FC Barcelona on February 1, 2026, initially on loan until the end of the season, coming from Al-Ahly of Egypt.

He played his first match with the under-19 team on March 8 against Huesca, where he succeeded in scoring in that match. The young player scored 9 goals in only 6 league matches with the reserve team, including a hat-trick during a 9-0 win over Montecarlo, a match that saw Barcelona win the Premier Youth League title.

In the summer of 2026, Barcelona signed Hamza on a permanent transfer deal, and the striker spent the preparations for the new season with the first team under the leadership of coach Hansi Flick. He topped the list of scorers during that period with four goals. On August 31, 2026, he played his first official match for Barcelona against Rayo Vallecano at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium in the Spanish League matches.

Hamza has participated in 9 minutes so far with Barcelona’s first team, despite his presence on the bench in the four rounds of La Liga and in a Champions League match.
