吳宇翔說,常見民用無人機多為旋翼,因一次要驅動至少4個螺旋槳較耗電,卻有垂直起降、不需跑道優勢,也能定滯於空域仔細偵蒐;定翼機則需跑道及必須一直在空中移動、無法定滯,但卻擁較省電且飛行距離遠的優點。

4人就以震災現場為題,為定翼機安裝碳纖維桿並裝上螺槳,用低成本且能快速產製、壞掉不心疼的設計,打造這套「防災偵蒐垂直起降長滯空無人機」,垂直起降後改由機尾螺旋槳推進,讓滯空時間大幅提升3至4倍,傳輸距離也可從2公里的高解析影像延伸到10公里的熱顯像,視任務進行轉換。

智慧機電學士學位學程主任徐子圭表示,民用的部分一般無人機標準電池供旋翼機僅能滯空10分鐘,定翼機則可達40分鐘,雖然國際間已多開發這種結合優勢的機種,但大多針對軍用無人機,民間不僅難以取得,價格上萬美元起跳,他們用樹莓派寫入程式,並自製無人機機體,成本可壓在5萬元台幣左右,適合在災後兵荒馬亂時即進入現場,透過熱顯像大範圍偵蒐待救的人員。
