"He told our daughter that he was addicted to alcohol and had multiple girlfriends. He also complained about being forced into the marriage by his father and pressurised Rehana to call off the marriage. When Rehana tried to confront him as to why his behaviour had suddenly changed, Shahjahan bluntly told out daughter that he completely disliked her and wasn't getting any feelings towards her.
This behaviour of Shahjahan pushed our daughter into a state of depression and she took to the extreme step of committing suicide. She has explained her ordeal in a 12 page suicide letter and we appeal to the police to punish Shahjahan who is responsible for our daughter's death", Rehana's parents appealed.
Police said Rehana's body was shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa for postmortem. Based on a complaint lodged by Rehana's father, Chinna Chowk police initially registered a case and launched an investigation.
