In turn, retired officer Gareth Collett explained that the evidence indicates an American missile weighing 500 pounds that was dropped by air, pointing out that errors sometimes occur even with advanced guidance systems. As for Sebastian Schutte of the Peace Research Institute in Oslo, he ruled out that the hole in the ceiling was the result of a ricochet, noting that the angle of impact was not consistent with an air defense missile.

The tragedy occurred in the small town of Kohstuk, where residents had gathered for a wedding. The American raid initially targeted a civilian communications tower 135 meters away from the ceremony site. Two American officials explained that the army launched the raids, targeting communications and radar towers to prevent Iran from threatening navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

This strike claimed the lives of four people, including a four-year-old child, while 68 others were injured, according to human rights documentation. This incident comes more than six months after a similar raid that destroyed a primary school in Minab and claimed the lives of 175 girls and teachers, an incident about which the Pentagon did not publish the results of its internal investigation as promised at the time.

Iranian media published pictures of fragments of American weapons scattered among the rubble, amid a state of sadness and shock throughout the town of Sirik.
