The Taoyuan MRT network has taken another important step. The "Taoyuan MRT Brown Line (Taoyuan-Guishan-Huilong Section) Preliminary Project Commencement Ceremony" has recently officially launched the preliminary project. After the completion of the entire line, it will take about 18 minutes at the fastest from Taoyuan Station to New Taipei Huilong Station. It can connect the Taiwan Railway, Airport MRT, Taoyuan MRT Green Line, Xinlu Line and Wanda Line and other rail networks, further creating a one-hour living circle in North-North Taoyuan.
Taoyuan City Mayor Zhang Shanzheng said that the MRT Brown Line is an important milestone in Taoyuan's transportation construction. It will not only help improve the transportation functions of Taoyuan and Guishan areas, but also effectively shorten the commuting time to and from the two cities. The route starts from Huilong and passes around Longhua University of Science and Technology and Taoyuan Arena, and connects to Taoyuan Railway Station. Once opened to traffic in the future, it is expected to greatly enhance transportation convenience and improve citizens' commuting efficiency.
He pointed out that the city government continues to promote the construction of the Taoyuan MRT network. In addition to making every effort to move towards the goal of opening the northern section of the MRT Green Line by the end of the year, the brown line will also be extended to the second administrative park of the city and connect with the orange line and other MRT networks to gradually build a more complete mass transportation system.
The MRT Brown Line is approximately 11.38 kilometers long and has a total of 7 stations, including 5 underground stations and 2 elevated stations. The route starts from Taoyuan Station, passes through Taoyuan District, Guishan District, and connects to the Huilong District of New Taipei City. In the future, in addition to shortening the commuting time between Taoyuan and Shuangbei, it will also connect multiple existing and planned rail networks to improve the overall public transportation efficiency.
The MRT Bureau pointed out that the comprehensive planning for the MRT Brown Line has been approved by the central government, with a total funding of approximately 45.6 billion yuan. The scope of this preliminary project is from BR02 station to BR08 station, and the construction period is about 270 days. It will handle the opening and leveling of the arcades along the line, the demolition of the Jishe Land Bridge pedestrian bridge, and the transplantation of plants. It will improve the pedestrian environment in advance and reduce the impact of subsequent main project construction, and also lay the foundation for the formal construction of the MRT Brown Line.
