The Uni-President Lions defeated CITIC Brothers in two consecutive games, forcing the post-season challenge to a tie. The two teams will decide the outcome tonight. The Lions chose to introduce the ace foreign pitcher Blake, who only had 2 days of rest. However, he finally ran out of energy. In the end, CITIC Brothers defeated the Uni-President Lions 8:2 and advanced to this year's Taiwan Competition, where they will compete with the Wei Chuan Dragons for the championship.
CITIC Brothers Zhang Shilun hit a double in the first inning and Chen Junxiu drew a walk, but failed to score from Blake. The Lions received walks from Zheng Haojun in two consecutive innings, but Chen Shengping's double play disrupted the offensive.
Brother Zhang Shilun hit two batters in the bottom of the third inning. After launching a stolen base, the second base judge ruled that he was too far away from the base and was hit. After the replay of the auxiliary decision, the original decision was upheld. Brother's head coach Hirano Keiichi once again stepped forward to ask, but did not protest fiercely. In the 4th inning, Chen Jiexian hit a hit, but was pinned out by Zheng Haojun at first base.
With 1 out in the bottom of the 4th inning, Zhan Zixian hit a double after a fight. Song Shengrui's fly ball resulted in 2 outs. Jiang Kunyu hit a double to center field, his second hit of the campaign. Two long hits connected in series, allowing CITIC Brothers to score first.
Blake started again after only resting for 2 days. He pitched 77 pitches in 4 innings today, allowing 5 hits, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 1 run.
After the 5th inning, Guo Junlin took over for the Lions. However, Gao Yujie, Zhang Renwei and Zhang Shilun received consecutive hits, two of which were infield hits. Guo Junlin walked Chen Junxiu with the bases loaded, and the brothers scored another 1 point. The Lions replaced Li Jun. After 1 out, he walked again. The Lions replaced Hu Zhi and walked Song Shengrui. The team walked with the bases loaded for the third time in a single inning. The brothers relied on these three walks to have 1 RBI each and took a 4-point lead.
Zheng Haojun pitched in the top of the 6th inning with 2 outs, and was hit by Lin Peiwei and Pan Jiekai. The brothers replaced Lu Yanqing, who had never allowed a run against the Lions in the regular season this season. Although he was hit by substitute Li Chengling, the Lions recovered 1 point, but Lu Yanqing still controlled the situation, and the Lions only scored 1 point in that half of the inning.
As soon as the Lions recovered 1 point, Zhang Renwei immediately hit a home run in the 6th inning, and the score difference reached 4 points again. This was also the first time a home run occurred in the series between the two sides. In the seventh game, Zhan Zixian hit another hit from Hu Zhiwei, the brothers' second hit in a single game. Jiang Kunyu and Huang Weisheng hit another hit in the 8th inning, and the brothers widened the point difference.
Trailing by as many as 7 points, the Lions had a touching scene in the 9th inning. In the last dance, Yong-kee Chan hit a hit against Lee Chun-chang, and then ran out of the game. The fans at the scene gave Chen Yong-kee great applause regardless of the supporting team. After Chen Yong-kee hugged the next bat, Chen Shengping, he took off his hat to the fans before exiting.
