The AI boom has driven investment in semiconductor equipment. The Taiwan Machine Tool and Components Industry Association (TMBA) has teamed up to participate in SEMICON TAIWAN for the third consecutive year. This year, it has gathered nine members to establish "TMBA SMART" to target the precision processing, key components and equipment manufacturing needs required for semiconductor equipment, and promote Taiwan's machine tool industry to further enter the high value-added semiconductor equipment market from the existing manufacturing field.

TMBA SMART this year is composed of 9 members, including Dayongcheng, Xinde Technology, Yuanjun, Xiehong, Weston, Pfeiffer, Pusen, Jianhe and Precision Machinery Center (PMC). It takes "behind the chip, precision manufacturing" as the main axis to show the connection between the machine tool industry and the semiconductor equipment supply chain.

The Machine Tool Association pointed out that according to estimates from the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI), global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales will reach US$165.9 billion in 2026, an annual increase of 23.2%. Investment in advanced processes, memory, testing and packaging driven by AI will still be the main growth driver, and it will also drive Taiwan's machine tool manufacturers to seek to enter the semiconductor equipment supply chain.

The Machine Tool Association stated that with the development of advanced processes and advanced packaging, semiconductor equipment continues to increase its requirements for processing accuracy, material handling, thermal stability, reliability and process control. From precision machining, key components, motion control, mechanical structures to equipment modules, they are all links that Taiwan’s machine tool industry can connect with.

During the TMBA SMART TEAM exhibition, through technology presentations, industry exchanges and MTB2B online matchmaking, members can directly communicate with semiconductor equipment manufacturers and engineers about process and equipment requirements, and bring market signals back to the industry as a reference for subsequent product and technology layout.

The Machine Tool Association stated that in 2027, TMBA SMART TEAM will expand the booth area and continue to participate in the exhibition, connecting members with semiconductor application capabilities and equipment-side needs, and continuing the layout of "behind the chip, precision manufacturing supports each other".
