Sichuan Province's first batch of joint special projects for medical and health technology innovation enterprises launched in Chengdu

China News Service, Chengdu, September 4 (Wang Liwen) On September 4, Sichuan Province’s first batch of joint projects for medical and health technology innovation enterprises was officially launched in Chengdu. As an innovative practice at the Sichuan provincial level to explore social donations into the science and technology planning system, the special project will focus on key areas of medicine and health to carry out technical research and promote the improvement of the core competitiveness of the industry.

It is understood that this special project was established in accordance with the provincial science and technology plan overall management standards, focusing on major scientific issues and technical problems in the fields of health, life sciences, and biomedicine, and focusing on three major directions: innovative and generic drug research and development and clinical research, high-end medical devices and equipment research, and early disease screening and health management research. The special project strives to break through a number of key core technologies, form a number of innovative results with independent intellectual property rights, cultivate a high-level clinical scientific research talent team, and output a number of diagnosis and treatment guidelines, expert consensus and industry standards.

The first batch of special projects will be implemented from 2026 to 2028 and will be jointly donated by 12 key domestic enterprises in the medical and health field. The total scale of funds reaches 170 million yuan, all of which will be used for medical and health technology innovation. The funds are independently managed by the Sichuan Science and Technology Innovation Foundation in accordance with the law, and the entire process of fund use, allocation, and balance disposal is carried out in a standardized manner.

The Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology stated that this special project is a specific measure to implement the strategy of healthy China and strengthening the country through science and technology. It will be included in Sichuan Province’s action system for improving the quality and doubling of advantageous industries. Through the organizational model of “government guidance, corporate donations, foundation management, industry-university-research cooperation”, it will gather the joint efforts of multiple parties to innovate and accelerate the process of scientific and technological research and industrialization of results. In the future, we will adhere to a problem-oriented approach and focus on key areas, explore and form a replicable and scalable science and technology plan innovation model, and provide local practical samples for national medical and health science and technology innovation.

This special project brings together leading domestic pharmaceutical companies, key universities, scientific research institutes, top tertiary hospitals and other innovative entities to jointly promote technological research and clinical application. (over)
