Ke Zhien established the Kaohsiung Mayor Academic Support Association, hoping to find the direction for Kaohsiung in the next 30 years

Kuomintang Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Ke Zhien established the "Kaohsiung Mayor Academic Support Association" this afternoon (12th), gathering nearly 60 academics from public and private universities in the south, as well as general and technical vocational schools, to jointly care about the future development of Kaohsiung. Ke Zhien said that he hopes to find a clearer direction for Kaohsiung in the next 10, 20 or even 30 years through expertise and experience in different fields.

Ke Zhien said that the progress of a city cannot only look at the current construction, but also consider what the next generation needs. Kaohsiung is currently facing issues such as youth employment, transformation of traditional industries, declining birthrate, housing burden, transportation construction and industrial development, all of which require the government to propose complete and long-term policy thinking. "Kaohsiung cannot just pursue single-point construction, but should think about overall urban development," including the balance of the five districts, industrial transformation, transportation construction, tourism development and youth housing, so that each region can find its own development direction.

In terms of urban vision, Ke Zhien said that East Kaohsiung has rich tourism and agricultural resources, but transportation conditions must be improved simultaneously; the urban area should rethink the future positioning of the nearly 57 hectares of land in the 205 Arsenal, so that precious land becomes an important core in driving the development of South Kaohsiung. At the same time, if Kaohsiung wants to go global, it also needs more complete international transportation conditions, including improving the international competitiveness of the airport, in order to truly support industry and urban development.

Ke Zhien emphasized, "Who said Kaohsiung can't have dreams?" The mayor's responsibility is not only to deal with what happens today, but also to imagine what Kaohsiung will be like in 10, 20, and 30 years. She hopes that Kaohsiung will become a city in the future where people of all ages and backgrounds can find opportunities. "Let Kaohsiung be a colorful world full of opportunities and worthy of aspiration for the children of Pingtung."

Ke Zhien thanked the nearly 60 academics present today for providing many suggestions through their professionalism and experience. She said that policies are never made by one person behind closed doors, but require people from different fields to discuss and improve them together. In the future, we will continue to communicate with academic circles and professionals from all walks of life to make policies stand up to discussion and testing.
