The 30 minutes from Changhua to Taichung becomes 3 minutes! Dadu and Meiqiao Ming opened to traffic, 20 years of waiting came true

The "Dadu and Mei Bridge" that people in Taichung and Changhua have been looking forward to for 20 years will hold an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Taichung City Construction Director Chen Datian said that in the future, traveling between Taichung City's Dadu District and Changhua County's Hemei Town will no longer require a detour of more than 10 kilometers. The journey is expected to be shortened from more than 30 minutes to 3 minutes, making traveling between the two places more convenient.

The Taichung City Construction Bureau pointed out that a shared pedestrian and bicycle path will be built on the west side of the bridge. People can enjoy the "Wuxi Sunset" along the way, making Dadu and Meiqiao both transportation and sightseeing functions, becoming a new local highlight. In conjunction with the opening ceremony tomorrow, the Dadu and Meiqiao Hiking will be held. There is no need to register or pay for the event. There are 1,000 completion souvenirs. The walking distance is about 3 kilometers and the stroll takes about 45 minutes. Once you collect stamps, you can take home limited gifts.

Chen Datian said that Dadu in Taichung is geographically adjacent to Hemei in Changhua. The two places are "close at hand". In the past, the only way to cross Wuxi was through the Zhongchang Bridge of Provincial Line 17 and the Dadu Bridge of Provincial Line 1, which was more than 10 kilometers and took at least 30 minutes. For more than 20 years, the local government has been looking forward to more convenient and efficient roads. The Taichung City Government and the Changhua County Government have joined hands to promote the "New Construction of Dadu and Mei Bridge" with a total cost of 3.3 billion yuan.

Chen Datian pointed out that the Dadu Hemei Bridge is about 1,440 meters long and 22 meters wide. It is planned to have four two-way lanes, two motorcycle priority lanes, and a shared pedestrian and bicycle lane. It is the largest new bridge construction project in the central region in recent years. Construction will start in January 2023. After overcoming challenges such as Wuxi water flow, tidal range, and construction environment, it will finally be opened to traffic tomorrow. The journey between the two places is expected to be significantly shortened from 30 minutes to about 3 minutes.
