Finalists of the 33rd International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival Announced

The International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, which will be organized for the 33rd time this year by Adana Metropolitan Municipality, is preparing to bring together the new productions of Turkish cinema in Adana once again.

The 10 films that made it to the finals of the National Feature Film Competition, one of the most anticipated sections of the festival, have been announced.

The films determined by the selection committee consisting of cinema writers Esin Küçüktepepınar, Mehmet Açar and Uğur Vardan will meet the audience throughout the festival and will also compete for the Golden Boll Awards, which will be given in 16 categories.

FIVE MOVIES WILL BE OPENED TO AUDIENCES IN ADANA FOR THE FIRST TIME

One of the striking aspects of the competition this year is that half of the finalists will have their world premiere at Altın Koza.

Ali Özel's "Expectation", Tunç Şahin's "Monster", Miraç Atabey's "Fashionable Marriage", Sinan Biçici's "French Fries" and Muzaffer Mehmet Çağlar's "Varlık" will be screened for the first time in Adana.

Productions that started their journey in international festivals will also take part in the Golden Boll competition. Alphan Eşeli's "Mutter: A Mother's Diary" will have its Türkiye premiere in Adana, following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Banu Sıvacı's "Günyüzü" screening in the Forum section of the Berlin Film Festival; Pınar Yorgancıoğlu's "Those Who Whistle in the Dark" world premiere at IFFI Goa; Nuri Cihan Özdoğan's "Dead Dogs Don't Bite" comes to Altın Koza after its premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Ali Vatansever's film "Bir Arada Solo" will take part in the competition after its first screening at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

ZUHAL OLCAY JURY PRESIDENT

Zuhal Olcay will be the jury president of the National Feature Film Competition. In addition to Olcay, the jury includes actors Şebnem Bozoklu and Salih Bademci, director Erdem Tepegöz, screenwriter Nilgün Öneş, cinematographer Gökhan Tiryaki and cinema critic and academician Ayça Çiftçi.

The winners of the competition will be announced at the Grand Awards Ceremony and closing night, which will be held on Saturday, October 3rd.

THOUSAND 94 FILM APPLICATIONS FOR GOLDEN BOLL

This year, the festival also reached a high number of applications to the competition sections. A total of 1,094 films applied to six separate competitions.

45 films were sent to the National Feature Film Competition, 66 to the Documentary Film Competition, 154 to the International Short Film Competition, 412 to the National Short Film Competition, 312 to the Student Short Film Competition and 105 to the Artificial Intelligence Short Film Competition.

54 projects applied to the Festival's Literary Adaptation Feature Screenplay Competition, which aims to open new areas of production between literature and cinema.

In the National Feature Film Competition, “Expectation” – Ali Özel, “Birarada Alone” – Ali Vatansever, “Monster” – Tunç Şahin, “Günyüzü” – Banu Sıvacı, “Those Who Whistle in the Dark” – Pınar Yorgancıoğlu, “Fashionable Marriage” – Miraç Atabey, “Mutter: A Mother's Diary” – Alphan Eşeli, “Dead Dogs” “It Doesn't Bite” – Nuri Cihan Özdoğan, “French Fries” – Sinan Biçici and “Varlık” – Muzaffer Mehmet Çağlar will compete.

Film screenings of the festival will be held this year at CinemaPink by Maximum halls in 01 Burda AVM.
