Robert De Niro confirms his participation in 1995 Istanbul raids

The story that has been told for years about Hollywood's famous actor Robert De Niro participating in nightclub raids with police teams in Istanbul in 1995 was confirmed by De Niro for the first time in 31 years.

Can Başak asked De Niro, who participated in the "Before Going to the Movie" channel with Adam Scott, about the unconfirmed story. De Niro stated that the basis of the story was true and described that day as follows:

"I went out with them, but I didn't check their IDs. I mean, I didn't do anything. I was watching, observing. That news is true," he said.

'I was doing research'

The famous actor also explained why he accompanied the operations of the Istanbul police. Stating that he was doing research for a project he was working on at that time, De Niro stated that he was in Istanbul with the writer he was working with, and continued:

"I was working... I was just doing research, it was a long time ago. At that time, I was with the writer I was working with on this work. People I knew there knew about it. The police, like public order teams, were raiding some clubs. So I went with them, we went together," he said. Adam Scott made a humorous comment to the story during the interview and said, "Imagine, you are waiting in line to enter a club and Robert De Niro wants to see your ID."

The incident, confirmed by De Niro, first came to the public agenda in Turkey in 2017, with the narration of journalist Burak Ersemiz.
