وأوفدت القنصلية المصرية في جدة وفدا من مسؤوليها إلى مكان الحادث، للاطمئنان على أوضاع المعتمرين في المستشفيات التي يتلقون العلاج بها، وتيسير إجراء اتصالات بينهم وبين ذويهم في مصر لطمأنتهم.

كما تعمل القنصلية على إنهاء إجراءات دفن المتوفين، بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية، إلى جانب متابعة التحقيقات الجارية مع السلطات السعودية للوقوف على أسباب الحادث وملابساته.

ويأتي الحادث في وقت تشهد فيه السعودية حركة مكثفة للمعتمرين القادمين من مختلف الدول، مع توجه أعداد كبيرة منهم إلى مكة المكرمة عبر الطرق التي تربطها بالمدينة المنورة، ما يجعل سلامة النقل البري للمعتمرين أحد الملفات المهمة خلال مواسم العمرة.
