Quick Look

Why It Matters

Ekaraz reversed the 11th seed from the United States, Fritz, to reach the quarterfinals of the Paris Men's Tennis Masters for the first time, and allowed compatriot Hodahl to compete in the top 8 of the 2026 Turin year-end finals for the first time. This is the second time in 11 years that the Spanish duo has been blocked at the end of the season. Hodal, who is only 20 years old, is the first super rookie since Alkaraz to compete in the New Generation Finals and advance to the year-end tournament the following year. He and Elkaraz were shortlisted together, continuing the record of the Spanish duo of Nadal and Ferrer in 2015.
