The 44th Sun Moon Lake Thousand People Swimming Crossing Event will be held on the 20th of this month. The Nantou County Government announced today that the number of registrants is 21,700, of which 451 people are from 38 countries and regions. In order to increase the safety of participants, a real-name dual-chip system is used for the first time. Each swimmer has a wrist and torpedo buoy iron ring chip, and must wear a regulated swimming cap issued by the conference before entering the water. For the first time, swimming completion medals will be issued after landing.

In addition, the county government set up a Ma Ying-jeou clause last year, allowing the 76-year-old former president Ma Ying-jeou to participate in the 10,000-person swimming event for the 12th time. This year, Ma Ying-jeou did not sign up again.

Nantou County Government held a press conference to promote the Sun Moon Lake Ten Thousand People Swimming Event in the afternoon. This year's swim crossing event adopts the "real-name dual-chip" control measure for the first time. Each swimmer must wear two special chips, one hanging on the wrist, and the other set in the torpedo buoy ring. Two chip-sensing gates are set up at the starting point of Chaowu Pier and the end of Ida Shao Pier, with video recording of the entire process. Through "real-name registration, precise control", the safety management of swimmers launching, swimming and landing is strengthened.
