Australian teacher accused of molesting and raping schoolchildren

The trial of a New South Wales teacher who molested two schoolchildren and raped one of them continues in Australia. The Daily Star reports.

Tayla Braley, 31, from Sydney, was jailed in early August 2024. She was accused of seducing a 17-year-old student and sleeping with him in her car. Two weeks later, it turned out that she had previously sexually harassed another schoolboy, who was 16 years old at the time.

At first, Braley was supported by her husband, Isaiah Rizza. Their wedding took place a year before her relationship with schoolchildren. She pleaded guilty in March. A few days earlier, Rizza filed for divorce.

During the next meeting, it turned out that Braley was the first to start corresponding with schoolchildren. She wrote to one after he liked her photo on a social network. Braley called the other one, said she was going to take a shower, and then sent her a nude photo. Then she asked the young man to do the same.

Braley's defense team is now asking that her sentence include no prison time. Lawyers insist that the woman committed the crimes while in a serious psychological state. In addition, Braley stated that her entire life had been exposed on crime news and television, and that this had been a very difficult experience for her. The woman will be sentenced on October 16.
