A reporter asked: Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the 7th CICA Summit and visit Azerbaijan as President Xi Jinping’s special representative. What does China expect from this visit?

Mao Ning: The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia is an important security dialogue and cooperation mechanism in Asia. Since its establishment, it has been committed to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation among countries, and has made important contributions to promoting security, stability and development in Asia.

At present, the international and regional situation is more complex and volatile, and Asian countries have a stronger desire to maintain peace and tranquility and promote economic growth. At this summit, China will engage in full dialogue and consultation with all parties, practice multilateralism, actively implement the four major global initiatives, promote the improvement of Asian governance, and make new contributions to building an Asian community with a shared future.

China and Azerbaijan are comprehensive strategic partners. In recent years, under the strategic planning and guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Aliyev, China-UAE relations have maintained a momentum of rapid development, political mutual trust between the two sides has continued to be consolidated, cooperation in jointly building the "Belt and Road" has been solidly advanced, and international cooperation has been fruitful.

This is Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s official visit to Afghanistan again after seven years. During the visit, Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold talks with Foreign Minister Bayramov. It is believed that this visit will help fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote bilateral cooperation in various fields to achieve new results.
