“Nana and I had very close and friendly relations. Through his powerful acting, Nana Patekar ruled the hearts of connoisseur audiences for more than five decades in Marathi and Hindi cinema. With his unique style of delivering dialogues, he immortalized many characters in films and created his own identity.
''His demise is a big loss for the Indian film industry. The work he did in the field of water conservation and watershed management in rural areas of Maharashtra through 'NAM Foundation' is remarkable and important. The helping hand he extended towards the families of farmers who committed suicide became a support for many families. Nana was not only an excellent artist and actor, but was also a sensitive personality towards society. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Om Shanti.

Ritesh Deshmukh remembered his grandfather like this
Actor Riteish Deshmukh, remembering Nana Patekar, has mentioned the time spent with him. Ritesh has written, "Today I have no words, it feels as if lightning has fallen on my heart.
Nana is gone...this one sentence alone has numbed my mind and left me speechless.
You were like the sky of acting which had no limits. With your unique style, you created a place in the hearts of the audience which no one can shake.
Sometimes there is a shining hero on the screen, sometimes a villain who gives goosebumps, and sometimes there is mischievous humor hidden behind the serious face.
Every color came alive in your acting.
You were a hero on screen, but behind the screen you were an even bigger person. It was my pleasure to share the screen with you in Bluffmaster and Housefull 5. But this unfulfilled wish of working with you in a Marathi film will remain with me throughout my life.
Your words, conversations with you, pats on the back in appreciation and those hours spent with us laughing heartily, these are my real earnings.
My heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones and millions of your fans.
Truly, today an era has come to an end.
Heartfelt tribute.
