A banner calling for the resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino has appeared in Times Square in New York. The Daily Mail reports this.

An inscription appeared on the electronic scoreboard: “FIFA deserves a leader, not a businessman.” It was accompanied by the hashtag #infantinout.

Earlier, FIFA sent an application to the American courts calling on them to reject the demands of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the disclosure of materials from the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan. The document calls UEFA's actions an attempt to discredit the leadership through the dissemination of false information.

UEFA has filed a series of lawsuits in three US courts demanding access to confidential information. The European Federation does not exclude the possibility of initiating criminal cases in Switzerland against FIFA President Gianni Infantino and other functionaries of the organization. On August 27, UEFA announced a loss of confidence in Infantino and the need for new leadership in world football.

The conflict stems from the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which involved the creation of a subsidiary worth $20 billion and the sale of a quarter of its share to outside investors to monetize commercial rights to the World Cup. The idea drew criticism from UEFA, and all 55 of its member national federations announced a boycott of competitions under the auspices of FIFA. FIFA eventually abandoned plans for the FFE project.
