Putin spoke about the importance of building a nuclear power plant of Russian design in Vietnam

A Russian-style nuclear power plant (NPP) can provide Vietnamese enterprises with cheap and environmentally friendly energy. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the importance of building a nuclear power plant in an Asian country, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

The presidents of Russia and Vietnam, Vladimir Putin and To Lam, met in the Kremlin and discussed a number of issues of a state nature.

“In March, an intergovernmental agreement was signed on the construction of a Russian-designed nuclear power plant on Vietnamese territory; we are talking about a truly flagship bilateral project. The future nuclear power plant will be able to provide the country’s enterprises with large volumes of cheap and environmentally friendly energy,” Putin explained.

A Nuclear Science and Technology Center is planned to be built in Vietnam soon. This will be a powerful stimulus for economic growth and the creation of thousands of new high-tech, well-paid jobs, the head of state added.

Earlier, Putin noted that in 2025, trade between Russia and Vietnam increased by almost 6 percent. As for the growth rate of mutual trade in the first six months of 2026, they almost doubled during this time.
