One person suffered cardiac arrest and seven were injured in a 50-year-old man wearing an electronic anklet in a stabbing attack in Incheon (2nd overall report)

Among the eight injured, one woman in her 20s was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest.

Mr. A (59), who went on a rampage with a weapon, was subdued by citizens at the scene and then arrested by the police.

Mr. A is accused of attempting to kill eight customers by stabbing them with a weapon at the See&See building, a large commercial facility in Guwol-dong that houses a large supermarket and a movie theater, at around 1:40 p.m. on this day.

A woman in her 20s who was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest underwent surgery and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

The other injured, seven men and women in their 20s to 50s, were transported to the hospital by the 119 ambulance and are being treated. They are reported to have no life-threatening injuries.

The police said that there were nine victims of this incident, including one person whose clothes were torn after receiving threats from Mr. A.

Incheon Namdong Police Station arrested Mr. A on charges including attempted murder and is investigating.

According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime after taking the elevator straight from the first floor of the building to the restaurant area on the second floor, holding a weapon in both hands and tying it in place with white tape.

He was then found to have brandished a weapon and injured unsuspecting users while taking the escalator up to the third floor.

Witnesses initially explained to reporters that 'Mr. A came up from the second basement floor to the ground floor on the escalator,' but the police confirmed that Mr. A entered the ground floor.

He also tried to enter the 4th floor above ground where the movie theater was located, but when the entrance was blocked by chairs, he returned to the 3rd floor, and citizens threw chairs to subdue Mr. A.

The building is a commercial complex consisting of a large supermarket on the 1st to 3rd floors underground, a jewelry store on the 1st floor, a restaurant on the 2nd floor, a parking lot on the 3rd floor, and a movie theater on the 4th floor.

Mr. A was sentenced to four years in prison for attempting to murder his ex-wife, and it was confirmed that he committed the crime on this day while wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.

It was found that Mr. A received alcoholism and psychological counseling from an outside expert for an hour starting at 10 a.m. on this day, about four hours before the crime, to alleviate symptoms of mental illness.

Additionally, the Ministry of Justice reported that the probation officer interviewed Mr. A for 35 minutes at 11:20 a.m. on this day to check whether he was taking medication for mental illness, and then had lunch with him until 12:30 p.m.

Mr. A had been booked by the police on charges of possessing a weapon during a one-man protest in front of a hospital in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon last month.

On this day, one additional blunt weapon and one weapon were discovered in Mr. A's belongings, and a large amount of drugs were also confirmed.

The police plan to request an analysis from a related agency to confirm whether the drug in question is a psychotropic drug.

A police official said, "After investigating Mr. A's motive for the crime, we plan to apply for an arrest warrant tomorrow (14th)."
