Heavy rain causes flooding in Bangkok, and District 50 is declared a disaster area

Agence France-Presse reported that Bangkok has been experiencing heavy rain almost continuously since the afternoon of the 24th, with rainfall reaching nearly 300 millimeters, and water levels in the city's canal network have skyrocketed. Chadchart Sittipunt said in the latest statement on social media that at least 13 roads were flooded.

The areas hardest hit by this flooding are in the eastern district of Bangkok and along the canal. "Our problem is that the canals are full. We are working with neighboring provinces to divert the water in other directions to minimize the flow of water into Bangkok," Chacha said.

According to Cha Cha, the flooding situation has "stable" and if it doesn't rain again in the city, the problem will be solved. However, after the rain stops, it is expected to take 2 to 3 days to eliminate the flooding.

Chacha pointed out that currently about 980 people are placed in temporary shelters, and 36 people who have been bedridden for a long time have been transferred to hospitals.
