Former President Yoon Seok-yeol's associate sentenced to probation on drunk driving charges

Mr. Hwang, a former administrative officer known to be a close associate of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, was sentenced to probation in the first trial on charges of drunk driving.

On the 17th, Chief Judge Lee Jae-wook of the 10th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Hwang, who was accused of violating the Road Traffic Act, to 10 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

The court criticized, saying, “The defendant was drunk and stopped in the first lane when he was stopped and was stopped while asleep,” and added, “It cannot help but be seen that the risk of road traffic at the time was quite high.”

The fact that Mr. Hwang had recently been fined for drunk driving was also reflected as an unfavorable situation.

Mr. Hwang is accused of driving about 100 meters while drunk on a road near Gangnam Station on December 16 last year. It was reported that Mr. Hwang's blood alcohol level at the time was at a level that would have resulted in his license being revoked.

Mr. Hwang is a close associate of former President Yoon and is said to have been called the 'Yongsan doorknob powerhouse' during the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
