Finnish police completed an investigation into airspace violations by Ukrainian drones without initiating a criminal case

Law enforcement officers in Finland have completed an investigation into violations of the country’s airspace by Ukrainian drones.

No grounds were found to initiate a criminal case.

Police say the drones entered the country's airspace due to weather conditions and interference with satellite navigation systems.

MOSCOW, September 10 - RIA Novosti. Law enforcement officers in Finland have completed an investigation into violations of the country's airspace by Ukrainian drones and have found no grounds to initiate criminal proceedings, police said.

In the spring, Finnish authorities repeatedly reported the discovery of drones in Finland. Based on the results of investigations, law enforcement officials pointed to the Ukrainian origin of the drones. At least three of them were carrying unexploded ordnance.

“The preliminary investigation did not reveal any evidence that could serve as a basis for further criminal prosecution. Accordingly, the prosecutor’s office closed the preliminary investigation of the cases based on proposals from the Central Criminal Police and Border Guard,” a statement on the police website says.

Law enforcement officers also reconfirmed that the drones that flew into the country were of Ukrainian origin. The police claim that the reason for their entry into the country's airspace was allegedly weather conditions and interference with satellite navigation systems.

The authorities of Finland and the Baltic countries previously claimed that they allegedly did not give permission to Ukraine to use their territories and airspace for drone attacks on targets in Russia.
